About AFCSOA

The Automated Fare Collection System Operators Association (AFCSOA) is a dedicated platform for uniting fare collection system operators, public transit operators, public transport authorities and agencies (at municipal, regional, or national level), technology providers, industry manufacturers, payment service providers, and independent experts across the globe.

Established in 2017, AFCSOA seeks to drive the future of public transit through collaboration, standardization, and innovation in automated fare collection systems.

AFCSOA operates as a voluntary, independently governed professional association. It exists to promote expert collaboration, responsible system development, and public discourse on AFC.

Mission

To foster a global network that promotes knowledge sharing, cooperation, and innovation across the automated fare collection (AFC) ecosystem, empowering transit stakeholders to build more sustainable and efficient public transport systems that serve both passengers and the operational needs of transit providers.

Vision

A world where automated fare collection and data-driven fare systems become the foundation of modern transit, and where technologies such as digital and account-based ticketing, open-loop payments are applied responsibly, selectively, and in ways that truly benefit passengers and operators alike.
